Not a chance! This is a reasonably well-written book and, in places, a true page-turner with a solid premise. I think it's because I honestly did not care for Jack. It is well written and fast paced. Waiting for the next installment from Michael Connelly. I loved this book and Jack McEvoy is my new favorite character. Jack begins to see a pattern between a series of homicide detective deaths. They definitely worked better in a Bosch book than a Jack McEvoy book. Michael Connelly has been President of the Mystery Writers of America. When he finds a similar cop suicide in Chicago, Jake heads to DC to view an FBI study on cop suicides and runs into Rachel Walling, the toughest and most beautiful special agent ever. The early theory is that Jack's brother, who is also a detective, has become too obsessed with catching the killer of a young girl who has been brutally murdered and has taken his own life. I thought: Ok, not a bad solution, but a bit obvious. I think it's because I honestly did not care for Jack. Twist at the end. Don't let that dissuade you from reading it. So when his homicide detective brother kills himself, McEvoy copes in the only way he knows how--he decides to write the story. Not part of the Bosch series but is linked to it. Decided to investigate and see if the author had actually written a separate book about this killer - and he had!! Brilliant story with a twist at the end.
