It captures the wild energy and imagination of a Seuss' books, but keeps the narrative going for the full running time.In this film you'll find surreal sets, atomic weaponry, and the best fight scene in hypnosis history. It was FUN! The adopt-a-father story is kind of blah. title details and video sharing options. The plot isnâÃÂÃÂt really explained here, (and by golly, I canâÃÂÃÂt really remember the whole plot now) but oh, look at the colors in the trailer! It's full of rhymes, alliteration, and nonsense that captures not just the joys and struggles of childhood, but the perspective as well, at times.

It's insane in all the right ways, but it definitely would have scarred me if I had seen it as a kidThe kind of children's movie you can just as easily enjoy with a J (though I gave that up a few years ago).

*gee, was I in a bad mood or something? noted for being the only film Dr Seuss ever wrote for the screen, this picture has his touch everywhere. Now known mostly as a cult novelty item than it should be, the 5000 fingers of Dr. T. is simply one of the most stunningly beautiful kidâÃÂÃÂs movies ever made, and this trailer certainly proves it. I cant wait to rent this film!.................................................Anyway, i enjoyed this trailer alot. Also, if you are a fan of old trailers, you will enjoy it as well. In this dream, he is imprisoned in Dr. Terwilliker's concentration-camp-like piano academy, while…In my wildest dreams, I didn't believe this could have ever existed: a live action Dr. Seuss musical about McCarthy witch hunts, nuclear destruction, and that mean music teacher you had (probably not) when you were 12. I was not so much a fan of the musical numbers, which every popular movie of this era seems to have. It's snappy, to the point, fast, gets the basic story across, uses some great imagery, and doesn't include really any waste. I found it hard to compare this to anything else since it’s really not like anything else. if you are interested in Dr Suess, you should look at this trailer. The sets of the dreamscape are equal parts Wonderland, dystopia, and Seussian, and the dialogue is Seuss at his best. Often, trailers from this era and before - even for many more years after this one - were overlong, drawn out, aimless, and had many other flaws that this one seems to either lack or keep down to a minimum. The bearded skaters are something out of a David Lynch movie. This film looks like a classic, and since i am a big fan of classic films, i might rent this at the local blockbuster! I have trouble enjoying this genre because it can promote worthless lyrical material that gets in the way of telling a good story. The sets and production design is amazing.

And the villain is none other than the voice of Disney's Captain Hook. Plenty weird, with art direction that borrows from METROPOLIS and PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, costuming and performance styles that inspired Sid and Marty Krofft, and cinematography that Ozon or Sirk would dismiss as too gay. someone wrote that this film is very “space-age-by-way-of-Caligari” in the way it looks and I wouldn’t disagree with that.

The character of "Sideshow" Bob Terwilliger, from "The Simpsons" (1989-), shares a name with the Dr. Terwilliger from the Dr Seuss created film "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T." (1953). While this infuriates me, it fascinates me even more.…More than most movie musicals- sorry, wonder musicals of the future- this is pretty much SOLELY a showcase for some incredible aesthetic design.

It has my vote for most mind-blowing production design of a Hollywood film: red ladders leading to nowhere, a hell with trumpet-faced jazz men. The trailer gives one a good idea of what the film is about, but the film itself suffers from a few faults, namely the boring and sometimes irritating songs (with the exception of a cute dressing song by Hans Conreid.)

This looks like the wizard of Oz minus the LSD. and a big musical number as staged by Eugene Loring, in director Roy Rowland's "Dr. Seuss" movie, The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr. T, 1953. Same editing style, Same writing style, Same everything. Feel free…I do not include shorts, documentaries, live musicals or musicals on stage in this list, as they are not considered… In this brightly coloured world his mother (Mary Healy) is a prisoner in mind and body of the dastardly Dr T, while plumber Mr Zabladowski (Peter Lind Hayes) fits as many sinks as are required to house 500 boys in the "institute" being planned and achieve sanitary clearance.Written by Dr Seuss (the only original film he created), directed by Roy Rowland, and…Imagine watching THE WIZARD OF OZ and WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY while smoking some pot. THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T is the only story that the great Dr. Seuss concocted as an original for Hollywood. The trailer narrates the storyline and highlights the technical features of the film. In the same realm as The Wizard of Oz and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Blazing Powell and Pressburger Technicolor meets Dr. Seuss's manic allegories. This movie rules. While grimly hammering away at his lessons, Bart dozes off and enters a fantastical musical dream.I was surprised to learn that Dr. Seuss considered his kids movie Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was responsible for the original screenplay, not the direction. I generally don't enjoy fiction with an added layer of "only a dream," but this one gets away with it.There's the added bonus that the film started out much longer, with 11 more musical numbers and who knows what else. The music itself, however, is unilaterally fantastic, but this means that the best musical moments are tightly choreographed instrumental dance pieces.
