Like taking a class with an excellent prof, the enthusiasm is contagious, every lecture is well researched, primary sources shared where appropriate!The two original hosts were funny and informative, but mr mcwhorter tends to come off a bit as “holier than thou” He attempts at giving interesting linguistic issues, but he doesn’t use the academically accepted terminology. I tried to be on board with him, but as a linguist this is just a horrible way to represent linguistics or language studiesAs a student who is eager to major in Linguistics, this podcast is an absolute perfection. It hits the sweet spot for me of a podcast that doesn't have tons of pointless chit-chat and filler, but is fun and engaging at the same time.This show is not a course on language.
